Visual Effects Producer

About Leslie

Leslie Hough is a freelance visual effects producer. She has worked on a wide range of award winning major motion pictures for Netflix, Warner Brothers, Fox, Universal, Sony and Disney. She has thorough understanding of the filmmaking process from prep to post enabling her to deliver the highest quality VFX on time and on budget and with a smile.

Leslie started her Hollywood career at Disney on Beauty and the Beast as one of the production managers. The first experience with animation was eye opening and gave her a deep respect for artists and the craft. After Beauty, she went on to be the production supervisor on the cult classic Bebe’s Kids. (Never saw it? It’s ok.) With a love of animation firmly in place, Leslie joined Character Builders, a boutique animation studio where she stayed for 9 years as their executive producer. During her tenure there, among other projects, she also produced 2 animated films for Disney. Character Builders ultimately shut down and Leslie went back to freelancing. She produced the animated Stuart Little 3 for Sony and Lucy Fisher and Doug Wick of Red Wagon.

Leslie always had a hankering to explore live-action work and got the opportunity to transition to VFX in 2010 when she began work with Framestore on Contraband for Baltasar Kormakur and Universal. She was able to bring the visual acuity and producing skills she had learned in animation to a different, yet very related part of the business. It was a welcome and easy crossover. (And she got to live in Iceland for 4 months.)

Next came 2 Guns for Kormakur/Universal again and Winter’s Tale for Warner Bros (if you missed it, they created a beautiful flying horse). Next, she was thrilled to work with the great Ang Lee on Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, which was the first film ever to have been shot at 4k, 120 fps and in 3D. (Wow.)

Leslie got hired by Fox/Lightstorm for Alita: Battle Angel, which had a fully animated WETA performance captured character as the lead in a live action movie. Another first.

She recently finished working for Netflix on Project Power, a sci-fi action film by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost. (And they set MGK on fire in case you missed that.)

Leslie is still VFX producing on the studio/production side on both coasts and all continents and has worked with and successfully managed multiple VFX facilities all over the world.

Leslie is extremely director supportive and artist friendly. Plus, she’s fun to work with and knows her stuff. Give her a call.
